Ruth Elaine Sivers Dixon, 77 of Greeley passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014. She died peacefully in her home. She was born December 6, 1936 to Roy M (Red) Sivers and Edith L. Sivers in Ault Colorado. She lived on the family farm in Ault Co until her father passed away when she was 8 years old. She attended school in Greeley CO; was active in the Rainbow girls in High School and was nominated to the position of worthy advisor for the state of Florida. Ruth graduated from Greeley Central High School in 1954. She went to Colorado State College in Greeley. Ruth worked for the Telephone Company 14 years until she quit in order to focus her time on her children. Ruth purchased Wild 'n Woolly in 1977 and grew the business from a small needlework store downtown on 8th street to a robust business selling quilting fabrics, quality yarn for knitting. She closed the business in 2012 after 35 years. On October 5, 1958 she married Raymond Dean Dixon at the first Congregational Church in Greeley. She was very active in her children's lives; she was active and chairman of the PTA at Cameron Elementary school, she was a leader in Camp Fire Girls, Cub scouts, and Boy scouts, along with being active in the women's society at the First Congregational Church. Along with her Husband in 1981 she started the Traumatic Brain Injury Support Group following their son's accident. She was fond of knitting, needlework, sewing and gardening. Survivors include her daughter Roxanne Dixon, her son Rory Edward Dixon of Greeley, her son Randy Mac Dixon, His wife Tehra, grandson Roark and Cyrus Dixon of Garland Texas, brother Robert Sivers of Arboles Colorado, many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in Death: by her parents, an infant child, a sister, and her husband. A memorial service to celebrate Ruth's life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday April 22, 2014 at the First Congregational Church, 2101 16th Street in Greeley. Private family graveside services will be held at the Eaton Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the Weld Food Bank or to Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado.
