Tribute: Ruth Fry Wright Born: June 2, 1920 Age: 86 Residence: Greeley, CO Tribute: Ruth Fry Wright was born to Wilmer Bragg Lewis and Grace Elizabeth Lewis on a home farm north-east of Greeley. She attended Greeley schools until the 9th grade when the family moved to Gilcrest, and graduated from Gilcrest High School in 1938. Following high school, she completed comptometer school in Denver and worked at the Greeley Sugar Factory. Ruth married Vernon Fry November 20, 1941 and then lived in Ault where Vernon ran a grocery store until 1948. That same year they purchased property in the Big Thompson Canyon where they sold chenille bedspreads and rugs for ten summers. While living in Greeley, Ruth worked at the UNC Bookstore, State Farm Insurance, owned Budget Macrame, and was a crossing guard at the Greeley Catholic School. Vernon died in Estes Park in 1985 after being sick and under Ruth's care for many years. Ruth married Webb Wright, a widower, from Estes Park in 1986. They resided in Estes Park and Mesa, Arizona until Webb's death in 1990. After selling her homes in Estes Park and Mesa, Arizona, Ruth lived at the Long Meadow Apartments, Garden Square Westlake, and then with her son and daughter-in-law at their home in Greeley. Ruth attended the First Methodist Church in Greeley as a child and was baptized at age 12. She attended First Christian Church in Ault and Congregational and Covenant Churches in Greeley. For the past two years, she attended Celebration Congregation in Greeley where she greatly enjoyed the Israeli Dancers. Survivors include a son and his wife, Bill & Frances Fry of Greeley; a daughter and her husband, Ann and Norman Hamer of Santa Fe, New Mexico; a step daughter, Margaret Mendoza of Estes Park, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren and a brother and his wife, Wilmer and Chris Lewis of Greeley and a niece and a nephew. She is preceded in death by her first husband Vernon Fry on September 13, 1985 and her second husband Webb Wright on February 20, 1990. She is also preceded by her parents and a sister Marjorie Lewis Hunt. A funeral service to celebrate Ruth's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2006 at the Celebration Congregation, 1113 8th Avenue with a luncheon to follow. Following the luncheon, interment will be in the Ault Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday with family greeting friends from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel in Evans.
