Obituary

Scott Eugene Eckas, 60, of Kingston, NY passed away Friday, January 17, 2025, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY of complications from COVID-19. Born March 14, 1964, in Greeley, CO he was the son of Herbert and Dorothy (Roberts) Eckas.
Scott had a love of learning graduating Greeley West High School in 1982, Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in economics from the University of Colorado in 1986 and a doctor of Juris Prudence from Yale University in 1989.
Scott's love of performing began early appearing as drum major for Heath Jr. High and in numerous band and theater productions at Greeley West High School. Scott further developed his musical & acting talent during high school by participating in numerous productions with the Agape Players.
He was a retired attorney who specialized in dispute resolution and litigation. He practiced for 25 years in New York City and was a partner in several international law firms. He semi-retired to the Hudson Valley where he enjoyed house remodeling, landscaping and his beloved animals. He was always willing to share his wisdom and support to those around him. He will be deeply missed by those blessed to have known him.
Survived by his parents, his sister Doreen Eckas of Goldendale, WA and nieces Alissa Eckas of Greeley, CO and Alexandra (Josh) Dyche and their children Emily, Robby, Carly & Randy of Goldendale, WA. He was predeceased by his grandparents: Adam & Lena Eckas and Ray & Amelia Roberts.
A Memorial Service will be held April 2, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at Faith Lutheran Church, 36980 Co Rd 37, Eaton, CO. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Scott's memory to: Rosemary Farm Sanctuary, 1646 Roses Brook Rd., South Kortright, NY 13842 where his beloved "Dottie" the Donkey now resides; Vassar Brothers Medical Center Foundation, P.O. Box 22539, New York, NY 10087; Faith Lutheran Church or a non-profit of your choosing.
