Sherry Lee Harpring, 71, of Greeley, Colorado died Monday, April 13, 2015, at Porter Hospice in Denver, Colorado, after a courageous battle against ovarian cancer. Sherry was born on Nov. 2, 1943 in Bloomington, IN to James and Wilma (Paschal) DeFord.
Sherry graduated from Bloomington High School in Bloomington, IN. She married Ken Harpring on February 12, 1965. They had two children, Cindy and Joe. Ken and Sherry separated in 1990, but remained good friends and helped each other over the years.
Sherry worked in various positions at the City of Greeley until her retirement in 2013. Prior to that, she helped on the farm she and Ken owned by driving tractor and going for parts, among many other ways she contributed. She enjoyed taking trips to the mountains, especially Rocky Mountain National Park, and spending time with her family and friends. She took great pleasure in her two grandsons, Joey and Jesse.
She loved to laugh and enjoyed being with people. She had a lot of friends and touched many lives.
Sherry is survived by her daughter, Cindy; son, Joe; daughter-in-law, Karen; grandsons, Joey and Jesse; and friend, Ken Harpring, as well as so very many friends too numerous to mention here. Sherry will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015 at the First Assembly of God Church, 3000 16th Street in Greeley.
