Steven D Eldridge
Aka Radar
Passed away at Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley on November 10, 2023 surrounded by family. Radar was born in Greeley on October 22, 1951 to Jack D Eldridge and Margaret I Bird. He was raised and resided in the Greeley, Evans, Eaton areas his entire life, with the exception of 1971-1974 while he was serving in the US Marine Corps. He completed his military commitment as a Sergeant and the nickname Radar.
Radar's work life included Monfort feedlots (Greeley & Kuner) and a 28-year career with State Farm Insurance, retiring in 2006. Radar's passion was the outdoors and hunting, specifically bow hunting. He was a member of the Colorado Bow Hunters association serving as an area representative for a number of years and earning Northeast Area Representative of the Year in 1988 and 1992, as well as 1992 State Area Representative of the Year. He was also dedicated to Ponderosa Outfitters and guided many successful hunts, primarily for Elk. Radar also was involved in the Colorado Jamboree and several other bow shoots across the state for many years.
Radar was a complex man of simple means: he couldn't remember his PIN but he never forgot a joke, a name, or a friend; he was a solitary man that could hold a room with stories and conversation; he was not a fan of the computer age and preferred writing checks, phone calls rather than text messages, and a handshake rather than a fist bump; he was meticulous in appearance, handwriting, and organization yet preferred duct tape and bailing wire for repairs.
He had an unparalleled love, commitment, and responsibility to family that will surely be missed. He is survived by brother Mike Eldridge (Kathy) of Gilbert, AZ, sisters Jane Winter (Jerry) of Eaton, Kris King (Shannon) of Ault, and brother Chuck Bird (Debi) of Greeley. Nieces Heather and Whitney Eldridge, nephew Steven Babb (Sara), nephews David and Kevin King and nephews Mitch Bird, Matthew Bird and family, and Marc Bird and family. Also, great - nephews and nieces Makayla Avila, Joseph Avila, Desire' Avila, Mikey Eldridge, Zayn Williams-Eldridge, Gunner Williams, Parker Babb, Noah Babb, and Olivia Babb. The family would like to also recognize Harley (Fuzzey) Clymer for his devoted friendship to Radar spanning roughly 60 years and Bruce Ayers for his friendship and opportunities with Ponderosa Outfitters.
A memorial service will be held at First Christian Church, 2230 13th Street, in Greeley on December 2, 2023 at 10:00 AM. If desired, in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Colorado Bowhunters Association Foundation in the name of Steve Eldridge is preferred:
