Thelma A. Beltz Paxton, 92 of Brighton, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2007 at the Brighton Care Center.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her daughter, Jean Beltz Harper of Brighton; a son Wayne Beltz of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; a nephew, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, 2 husbands and a granddaughter.
She was an avid organic gardener, providing fresh vegetables every summer from the farm South East of Keenesburg, Colorado. An extensive African Violet collection kept the gardening spirit alive year around. After a farming accident in 1975 that took husband and grandfather Elton Beltz, the farm was sold. Thelma traveled with a church group to Europe and Israel, and lived in Brighton until she married Jerry Paxton in 1980. Their lovely home in Meena, Arkansas was host to a family reunion in 1993. His worsening physical condition required a move to Paradise, California where his son lives. After Jerry passed in 2005, Thelma moved back to Brighton to be closer to her family.
A funeral service to celebrate Thelma's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2007 at the Brighton Seventh Day Adventist Church, 567 E. Bromley Lane. Interment will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Brighton.
