Thomas Lloyd "Tom" Chesnut, 83 of Johnstown, died on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at his home. He was born on January 8, 1925 in Greeley, Colorado to Frank and Irene (Sappington) Chesnut. Tom married Helen McNeil on December 12, 1948 in LaSalle, Colorado. The couple has lived in Johnstown since 1983. Mr. Chesnut farmed for his whole life. He farmed the Sappington Farm in Milliken until 1983 when he moved to farm in Johnstown. He retired in 1998. Survivors include his wife, Helen Chesnut of Johnstown; 2 daughters, Becky Chesnut and her fiance' Bob Hanford of Salt Lake City, Utah and Betty Gray and her husband Daniel of Greeley; 3 sons, Gary Chesnut and his wife Helen of Greeley, Carroll Chesnut and his wife Becky of Friendswood, Texas and Gerald Chesnut of Henderson, Colorado; 5 sisters, Ruth Uhrich of Fort Collins, Lois Ann Onorato of Milliken, Twyla Wertz of Fort Morgan, Nancy Lynch of Encampment, Wyoming and Virginia Zaln of Tucson, Arizona and 10 Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Irene Chesnut, a sister, Barbara Heinsen and 2 brothers, Wayne and Eddie Chesnut. A funeral service to celebrate Tom's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans. A private family visitation will be held on Wednesday. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley. Following the services at the cemetery a reception will be held at the Milliken Community Center.
