Veronica J. Garza, lovingly known as "Ronnie" or "Vero", 80, of Greeley, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the Life Care Center of Greeley.
She was born on January 10, 1945, in Greeley to Manuel Mestas and Grace R. Montoya. She attended Meeker schools and eventually attended cosmetology school, earning her cosmetology license. She met Ramon Garza and, in June of 1972, they married and started their life. Besides being a loving mother to her five children, she also worked a number of jobs, including working for Monfort of Colorado, StarPak, and Hungenberg Produce. She lived many years in Lucerne before moving to Greeley in 1987.
Veronica was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Her faith was important to her. When she had free time, she enjoyed watching the Rockies and the Broncos play, and she loved a trip to Black Hawk. Above all, Veronica adored her grandchildren and cherished any time she got to spend with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel Mestas and Grace R. Montoya; her husband, Ramon Garza; one son, Rohealo O. Garza; her grandmother, Maria R. Montoya; and her beloved dog, Girlfriend.

Veronica is survived by her sons, Ramon (Lori) Garza, Jr. and Reynaldo F. Garza (Lucina Velazquez-Luna); her daughters, Ramona (David Allen) Ortega, and Lorenza Mestas (Norman) Martinez; her brothers, Marino (Patricia) R. Montoya and Patrick Mestas; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 11th Avenue in Evans, Colorado.
Recitation of Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 1311 3rd Street in Greeley, Colorado. A potluck reception will follow from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Island Grove Bunkhouse, 607 N 15th Avenue in Greeley. Family and friends are invited to bring a dish if they wish.
