Obituary

Virginia Marie (Thurlow) Yockey, 80, of Evans, Colorado passed away February 24, 2024. She was born August 18, 1943, to Leroy and Clara (Mark) Thurlow in Atkinson, Nebraska.

Virginia attended high school in Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska and was part of the graduating class of 1961. On August 1, 1961, she married Franklin Yockey in Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska. They lived in Greeley since 1984 before moving to Evans in 2017.

Virginia was a Food Service Manager with the Weld County School District 6 for 32 ½ years before she retired. After retirement, she decided to work part-time at the Loveland Outlets. She was also a devoted member of the Generations Church in Greeley.

She is survived by her mother, Clara Thurlow of Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska, a son, Robert Gene Yockey of Carrollton, Texas, a daughter, Tamera Lynn (Terry) Perdue of Greeley, Colorado, brothers, Sherman (Karen) Thurlow of Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska, Clarence (Kim) Thurlow also of Cedar Bluffs, a sister, Veronica Melton of Okeene, Oklahoma, 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her husband, Frank Yockey, her father, Leroy Thurlow, a son, Jim Yockey, and her brother, Rick Thurlow.

Private family services and an inurnment at Ridge Cemetery in Fremont, Nebraska will be held at a later date.
