Walter Lehr - Age 84 Residence: Colorado State Veteran's Nursing Home, Walsenburg, Colorado Tribute: Walter was born to Peter and Barbara (Manweiler) Lehr in Denver, Colorado. At a young age his family moved to the Gill area. He graduated from Gill High School in 1941. Walter entered the United States Navy on February 12, 1943. He served during World War II, The Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Campaign. He received many awards for his service. He held the rank of Chief Quartermaster at the time of his retirement on October 1, 1972. Walter lived in Palm Springs, California until moving to Colorado in 2005. Survivors are a son, Jeffrey Lehr, a sister, Rose Bauer of Loveland, a brother and his wife, Robert and Harriet Lehr of Greeley and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Lydia Busch and Helen Fink. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday April 23, 2008 at the Linn Grove Cemetery in Greeley, Colorado.
