Obituary

Wilber “Smitty” Clarence Smith, Jr., 84, of Greeley, passed away on Saturday February 29, 2020 at North Colorado Medical Center.

He was born February 21, 1936 in Carr, Colorado to Wilber C. & Lulu (Chadwick) Smith, Sr. He graduated from Carr High School in 1955 and begin his career path working for the railroads, in construction and at the Monfort Beef Plant. In November of 1959, he married Mary Chavez in Nunn, Colorado.

Smitty’s hobbies included building model trains and league bowling. He dearly loved his family and friends and will be greatly missed by them.

He is survived by his sons, Craig (Paula Moore) Smith of San Leandro, CA, and David Smith of Greeley, CO, his grandchildren, Jennifer (Matthew Calderon) Smith of Greeley, CO, Nicolla (Crawford Paris) Sanguinetti of Juneau, AK, Wyler Smith of San Diego, CA, and Wyatt Smith of San Francisco, CA, and 1 great grandchild, Alivia Calderon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Smith, and his parents, Wilber & Lulu Smith, Sr.

A celebration of Wilber’s life will be held 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2020 at the Journey Christian Church, 4754 W 31st St, in Greeley.
