Obituary

William Carl Miller (Bill), of Severance, Colorado, passed away on October 8, 2025. He was born on November 26, 1945, in Niskayuna, New York. Bill was the son of Halbert Benjamin Miller and Irma Millicent Bayless Miller. He spent his early childhood in Glenville, New York, before his family moved to Massachusetts, Kentucky, and Connecticut due to his father's career advancements working for General Electric.

Bill graduated from Darien High School in 1964. He worked in Landscaping for some time. He then worked at Home State Oil Production Company in Seminole, Oklahoma, serving as a roustabout. Following this, Bill attended Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree and making the dean's list before graduating in 1970.

Bill married his first wife, Melinda Hart, on January 2, 1969, in Baltimore, Maryland. He continued teaching until 1970, after which they separated, and he moved to Colorado and lived with his best friends Jack and Cindy Coyne. In Colorado, Bill launched his lifelong business by opening the first Country Waterbed Store in 1971, just outside of Severance. He and Melinda divorced in 1972.

Bill met his second wife, Linda Ann Blodgett, and they married on May 17, 1975, in Windsor, Colorado. The couple settled in Severance and, as their family grew to include four children, they moved to a larger home in Milliken, Colorado. With the success of his business, Bill expanded in 1973 by opening a second store in Greeley, Colorado. Bill and Linda divorced in 2006.

In 2014, Bill married June DiAnne Brill (née White) in Greeley, Colorado. That marriage ended in 2022. Bill and DiAnne remain life partners.

Bill was passionate about martial arts, earning a black belt with Tiger Kim in Denver. He enjoyed drag racing at Bandimere Speedway, especially in his 1972 El Camino, a gift from his father. Bill was also an avid motorcyclist, riding his 1966 Triumph Bonneville, affectionately named "the gravedigger." He attended Sturgis regularly and won awards with his motorcycle. A lover of music, Bill played the acoustic guitar and cherished time spent with his family, especially his brother Hal Miller and his grandchildren. Bill had a special bond with his hound dogs, rescuing several over the years and even naming two of them Hal.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Judith Miller Curry.

He is survived by his four children: William Luke Miller (Kristin) of Valencia, California; Ashley Elizabeth Wheeler of Parker, Colorado; Dylan Winchester Miller (Marissa) of Evans, Colorado; and Samantha Carly Miller (Andre) of Erie, Colorado. He is survived by ten grandchildren: Tegan, Xavier, Ethan, Estelle, Silas, Deon, Scarlett, Annelyse, Keala, and Zara. Bill is survived by his brother, Halbert B. Miller (Danielle) of Ocala, Florida.

A graveside service will be planned later in Tempe Arizona.
