BILL BEATTIE Born June 11,1927 Died Jan 27,2007 Age: 79 Residence: Greeley William Eugene Beattie was born in York, NE to Charles E. and Faye Darlene (Burnham) Beattie, He grew up in the small Nebraska town of Big Springs. He graduated from Big Springs High School in 1945 and then went into the Army as Medical Corpsman. He was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska from Nov 1945 to May 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1947. He briefly worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. On June 6th 1950, he married Bertha Louise Aufrecht at the Big Springs Methodist Church. In 1955, Bill and Bertha moved to Greeley where he ran the Rainbow Gas Station in downtown Greeley until in 1958 he joined the US Postal Service as a Letter Carrier until his retirement in 1984. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan and attended home games in the mid-1970's. He also enjoyed the Colorado Rockies and Denver Nuggets. He loved to watch train videos and DVD'S. William Eugene Beattie died on Saturday at Fairacres Nursing Home in Greeley. Survivors are his wife Bertha of Greeley, two sons William James "Jim" Beattie of Greeley and Kenneth Lee Beattie and wife Karen of Parker, CO. Five grandsons Brian Beattie and wife Kristina of Las Vegas, NV and Eric Beattie and wife Kayla and his new great grandson William Lloyd Warren Beattie born on Saturday Jan 27, 2007. He was so proud to know of the birth of his first great grandson on the day of his passing. Jason and Amy Adams of Ft. Lupton, Justin and Jennifer Adams of Castle Rock, Darin and Jody Adams of Centennial and 5 Adams Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Services: Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 2, 2007 at the First Assembly of God Church, 3000 W. 16th Street. Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens at a later date.
